As a Consulting Sales Engineer Commercial HVAC, you will play a key role in supporting commercial HVAC projects from initial qualification through final distribution. This position is ideal for professionals who excel at building strong customer relationships, providing technical expertise, and driving sustainable business growth. Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with consulting engineers and assigned engineering accounts to grow basis-of-design opportunities across the full product line. Provide system design support and equipment selection assistance to engineering accounts. Pre-qualify assigned projects to ensure alignment with business priorities and capabilities. Coordinate with inside sales, estimators, department managers, and commercial sales engineers to ensure clear communication of project scope, expectations, and deadlines. Track estimator progress, proactively resolve scope gaps, conflicts, or delays, and lead team communications for assigned projects. Review selections, pricing, submittals, and order worksheets for assigned engineering accounts. Follow up on proposals and assist the outside sales team in closing equipment orders. Participate in local ASHRAE and other relevant organizations to support professional and company goals. Travel to various locations as needed to provide ongoing training and support. Develop bid strategies for basis-of-design, voluntary alternate, or value-engineered solutions prior to bid day. Maintain sales and quoting reports, identify business opportunities, and report on trends and new products. Prepare regular reports for management regarding field activity, sales, competitors, and forecasts. Track and report travel and incidental expenses, ensuring adherence to budget parameters. Utilize CRM tools to track daily activities and maintain accurate records. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the sales department. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred (engineering discipline strongly preferred). Minimum 3-5 years of productive sales experience, preferably in commercial HVAC products or systems. Valid drivers license required. Experience working with MEP consulting engineers or as an Engineer of Record. Strong understanding of HVAC/mechanical system applications, operations, and basic heat transfer concepts. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP, and CRM systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and customer service orientation. Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to give presentations to consulting engineers and communicate effectively at all organizational levels. Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to identify market dynamics and implement competitive strategies.
