Engineering Maintenance Coordinator Augusta Richmond County - 3.8 Augusta, GA Job Details $51,371 - $59,076 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Construction specifications DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations Driver's License Working on construction projects in a civil infrastructure role Drainage systems Highway maintenance Traffic control for work zones Road drainage system construction projects Full Job Description This position organizes and creates work schedules, and coordinates maintenance on county roadway systems, storm & drainage systems, sidewalks and other miscellaneous related items within the guidelines of departmental rules and safety procedures. This position works with co-workers, employees, contractors, other City Departments and the Public. Communicates with supervisor, other departments, employees, customers, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Establish work schedules, prioritizes and assigns work to on-call contractors and in-house staff, determining workloads for staff and on-calls, training staff in work procedures and inspecting work of assigned staff and on-call contractors. Coordinates skilled maintenance activities varying with area of assignment, including performing basic trade activities such as concrete repairs to storm sewer systems, sidewalks, ROW maintenance, detention and retention pond maintenance, roadway and street construction and maintenance, medians, ROW landscaping, Including planting, fertilizing and trimming trees, shrubs, and performing weed abatement. Inspects work of maintenance staff and on-call contractors to ensure that work meets specifications and standards. Inspect temporary traffic control and work zones for both maintenance and maintenance construction projects in the Right of Way (ROW). Inventories and may order supplies, equipment and material for projects, including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendors; may provide input to budget requests in areas of assignment. Performs training on safety issues ensuring staff are following safe working practices and standard operating procedures. Assists in tracking expenditures on projects and maintains logs, pictures, and records of work performed and materials used through CityWorks, GBA or similar database. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in maintenance and repair of roadways, drainage infrastructure, and other infrastructure.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent knowledge of techniques, equipment, and supplies used in road construction and maintenance. Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans/specifications and directing/controlling traffic. Mastery of operating and maintaining specialized equipment, tools, and machinery. Working knowledge and ability to apply traffic control standards set forth in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and Georgia DOT Standard Specification 150: "Traffic Control". Good communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member.
Licensing:
Must possess a valid state operator/driver's license for the type vehicle operated with good driving history. Must possess or can obtain Georgia E&S Level 1B certification within 90 days of employment. e Must possess or can obtain Georgia Soil and Erosion certification within 6 months of employment. Must possess or can obtain a Work Zone Traffic Control Certification within 6 months of employment.
Compensation:
$51,371.00 - $59,076.00
