Maintenance Engineer Position Summary:
As Maintenance Engineer supporting our manufacturing client in Savannah, GA, you ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of plant assets. You define and lead processes and systems for providing a proper response to failures and quality repairs to the equipment by specifying repairs and modifications to equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Develop maintenance procedures, methods, and testing Support craftsmen performing all facets of maintenance work and responding to equipment faults Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns Specify replacement parts and ensuring the equipment is functioning correctly Assist Planners in the development of Work Packages Inspect jobs to verify the work is performed correctly Partner with other departments and customers, specifically other engineering and production teams Develop processes to manage maintenance tools, and equipment Monitor and control maintenance costs Lead responses for emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs Drive improvements in health and safety policies and procedures Lead improvement to maintenance methods and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes Provide skill-based training to craftsmen on specific equipment in the plant and general skill-based knowledge Program programmable logic controllers (PLC), and distributed control system (DCS) (electrical) Develop installation and commission packages for new installation
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree At least 5 years experience in manufacturing plant maintenance, including experience with packaging equipment Understanding of equipment operation Understanding of equipment repair practices Ability to use CMMS and analyze data Training and certifications in some of the following: Predictive technologies Repair practices Spare parts methodologies
Physical Demands and Expectations:
Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment This position description represents a summary of the major components and requirements of the outlined job.
