The Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and programming projects associated with the installation and operation of DDC and building automation systems. This role serves as a technical liaison between the design team and the field/project management team and is responsible for delivering complete, functional systems that meet project requirements and C&C Group standards. Ideal Candidate Responsibilities Design all hardware and software components per project documentation for a complete and functioning system. Develop programming for HVAC mechanical and electrical equipment, including DDC at the equipment level and graphical implementation at the front-end user interface. Research equipment compatibility, product quality, pricing, specification sheets, and supplier options to ensure the system will function as required. Work closely with project management to verify the accuracy of sales estimates and assist with post-sale re-estimates for budget management. Assist the project manager in developing accurate engineering time estimates and engineering schedules. Coordinate material orders with the purchasing department as needed. Provide customer training and technical support when necessary. Collaborate with team members and maintain active communication with others working on the same project. Assist with equipment startup, point-to-point checkout, commissioning, and project turnover. Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective actions, and communicating with customers and assigned staff. Provide assistance with bid document preparation and presentation materials, including technical data and drawings. Generate submittals, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings per project requirements. Travel to customer offices and job sites as needed, including occasional overnight stays. Requirements Engineering degree from an accredited college or university preferred; three to five years of relevant experience preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Familiarity with energy management systems, HVAC systems, temperature controls, and process control systems. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to customer questions. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
