Job Title:
Maintenance Engineer (Third Shift) Job Description This third-shift maintenance engineer role focuses on supporting a highly automated food production facility by performing industrial maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems. You will troubleshoot and repair equipment, work with automation and ammonia refrigeration systems, and help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production machinery in a clean, regulated environment. Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot and repair automated machinery to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production output. Diagnose and resolve issues involving PLC-controlled equipment and related control systems. Support ammonia refrigeration systems by assisting with troubleshooting and maintenance activities as needed. Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential problems and address them before they lead to failures. Use electrical and mechanical tools, test equipment, and diagnostic methods to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize and complete work orders efficiently. Document maintenance work performed, including repairs, parts used, and recommendations for future improvements. Follow all safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures required in a food manufacturing environment. Work consistently on third shift and be available to support production needs during that time. Essential Skills At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience with a balanced electrical and mechanical skill set. Hands-on experience with hydraulics, including troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems. Hands-on experience with pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience working with automated machinery and production equipment. Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and related automation components. Demonstrated good tenure and stability in previous industrial maintenance roles. Comfort working in a food production environment with required sanitary practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications PLC and mechanical skill set, including the ability to read and interpret technical documentation. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus. Previous experience in the food industry is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on third shift. Ability to communicate clearly with team members and other departments. Willingness to work long term and contribute to a family-oriented culture. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a clean food production environment with a high level of automation and numerous automated machines. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety regulations while providing access to modern industrial and automation equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
