Introduction The Maryland Military Department is looking for a candidate to\r\nfill the position of Capital Maintenance Project Engineer II! LOCATION OF POSITION
Fifth Regiment Armory\r\n\r\n219 29th Division Street�\r\nBaltimore, Maryland 21201\r\n Main Purpose of Job A Capital Maintenance Project Engineer II is the full performance level of work as a project engineer in the Maryland Military Department for capital sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM) projects. Capital SRM projects involve large-scale sustainment, renovation, and modernization work, typically are one year or less in duration, and may include armories, readiness centers, field maintenance shops, warehouses, housing, and public works structures and operations. Employees in this classification may provide guidance and direction to engineering or architectural consultants but will not supervise other engineers.\r\n\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Employees in this classification may provide\r\nguidance and direction to engineering or architectural consultants but will not supervise other engineers.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEmployees receive general supervision from the\r\nAgency Project Engineer/Architect Supervisor\r\nand technical guidance as needed from the Construction and Facilities Management Office federal partners.\r\nEmployees may be required to work evenings and weekends in order to attend\r\npublic meetings and hearings.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPosition duties include but are not limited\r\nto:�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Plans, directs and coordinates large-scale capital and operating\r\nmaintenance projects.�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Reviews designs, plans, specifications, contract documents and\r\ncost analyses of capital SRM projects.�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Provides technical assistance and analysis of engineering design\r\nconcepts and construction problems, interpretation of technical data, and cost\r\nissues of engineering services.�\r\n\r\n\r\n� Attends project design review, pre-bid, construction progress,\r\nand post construction meetings.\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
�Six years of experience, two years of experience as an Engineer in the building construction, renovation or maintenance fields and an additional four years of experience performing maintenance or construction engineering work in facility and maintenance system work.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Notes:
�\r\n\r\n\r\n1.�Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as an Engineer in the building construction, renovation or maintenance fields for the required experience.�\r\n\r\n\r\n2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience as a commissioned officer in Civil Engineer Corps classifications or Construction Engineering Technician, or Civil or Combat Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • \r\nExperience with capital and operating maintenance projects and maintenance\r\nsystem services.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • \r\nExperience reviewing designs, plans, specifications, contract documents and\r\ncost analyses.�\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Experience with providing\r\ntechnical assistance and analysis of engineering design concepts and\r\nconstruction problems, interpretation of technical data, and cost issues of\r\nengineering services�\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Experience with developing scopes of work, schedules, and\r\nconstruction cost estimates.�\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Experience\r\nwith construction inspections, progress meetings, and construction\r\nadministrative work.�\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Experience with standard design\r\nand construction methods and procedures.�\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Experience with Federal, State and\r\nLocal building codes.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees must be able to successfully\r\ncomplete a State and Federal background check.\r\n\r\n\r\nCommon Access Card (CAC) required. This\r\nposition will require the ability to pass a Federal background check in\r\naddition to a State background to access the facilities and computer systems by\r\nbeing issued a CAC card. The ability to obtain and maintain this access to the\r\nfacility and CAC card is a condition of employment for this position.\r\n\r\n
