Traveling Mechanical Project Engineer - HVAC / MEP Construction BlackStar - 4.8 Farmington Hills, MI Job Details Full-time $70,000 - $80,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Travel reimbursement Mileage reimbursement Fuel card Paid holidays Paid time off Qualifications Construction RFI responses Microsoft Outlook Spreadsheets Construction industry experience Construction document control Construction submittals Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a Traveling Project Engineer with 1-3 years of construction experience (or relevant internship experience) to support large-scale mechanical (HVAC/MEP) construction projects across multiple states. This role is ideal for early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience with complex industrial, commercial, healthcare, and data center projects. You will support Project Managers on active job sites and coordinate between field teams and office operations while traveling to project locations across the Midwest and East Coast. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers on mechanical construction projects from planning through execution Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and logs Assist with scheduling, tracking, and progress reporting Coordinate communication between field teams, subcontractors, and office staff Maintain accurate project records and ensure compliance requirements are met Use Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud for project tracking and documentation Required Qualifications 1-3 years of construction experience OR relevant internship experience in mechanical/MEP construction Exposure to HVAC, mechanical, piping, or plumbing construction projects Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, and project documentation workflows Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Willingness and ability to travel 75-100% (multi-state assignments) Preferred Qualifications Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field Experience with Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud Prior experience with a General Contractor or Mechanical Contractor Exposure to large-scale commercial or industrial projects Benefits $150 daily travel stipend Gas card and/or mileage reimbursement $1,000/month healthcare stipend 2 weeks PTO + 5 sick days + company-paid holiday shutdowns (including winter holidays & Labor Day weekend)
