BIM/VDC Detailer (Mechanical / HVAC)
Location:
Commerce Township, MI (Detroit Metro Area)
Salary:
$65,000 - $95,000Position OverviewWe are seeking a BIM/VDC Detailer to support the design and coordination of commercial mechanical systems across a range of construction projects. This role is responsible for developing detailed 3D models, producing shop drawings, and supporting project teams through coordination and clash detection processes to ensure constructability and efficiency in the field.

The ideal candidate has experience with Revit and mechanical systems such as HVAC or piping, and is looking to grow within a fast-paced construction environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring models are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements from preconstruction through installation.

Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and sheet metal systems, with in-house fabrication capabilities and a strong focus on leveraging VDC technologies to deliver high-quality, efficient project outcomes across commercial and industrial markets.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed 3D BIM models for HVAC, ductwork, and mechanical systemsCreate shop drawings and fabrication-ready models for field installationParticipate in BIM coordination and clash detection using Navisworks or similar toolsCollaborate with project managers, engineers, field teams, and other tradesReview drawings and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and constructabilityUpdate models based on coordination meetings, field conditions, and design changesAssist with RFIs, submittals, and project documentation as neededSupport continuous improvement of BIM/VDC standards and workflowsEnsure models align with project schedules, budgets, and field requirementsQualifications2-5 years of experience in BIM modeling, detailing, or draftingProficiency in Revit and AutoCADExperience working with mechanical/HVAC, piping, or MEP systemsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentPreferredExperience with Navisworks (clash detection and coordination)Familiarity with Fabrication CADmep or Revit Fabrication toolsExperience working for a mechanical contractor or MEP firmExposure to field installation processes or construction coordinationAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Construction, or similar)Candidates that complete skills assessments and screening questions will receive priority consideration in the hiring process.
