Job Description

Position Information This position is 8 hours/day (Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.). This position is assigned to Quora Education Center. The starting hourly rate is $29.51/hour with a $1.75 hourly license pay for holding a First Class C Boilers License or $2.00 hourly license pay for holding a Chief C Boilers License. Nature of Work Incumbents perform general or specialized maintenance and repair work throughout the district.
Responsibilities may include:
maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems; monitoring and reporting repair needs; monitoring and maintaining boilers; maintaining inventory; and assisting skilled craft staff with various repairs. Typical Class Responsibilities Performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the plant mechanical and electrical systems; monitors boilers to ensure proper functioning; and responds to equipment failures. Monitors and records system performance, maintenance, and repair needs; communicates and reports needed repairs and repairs to supervisor; and maintains health, safety, and service reports and records. Coordinates, assists, and monitors the work of skilled craft persons and/or external contractors on repairs, maintenance, and cleaning. Monitors and maintains materials, supplies, equipment, and/or other applicable inventory items in assigned area of responsibility; initiates the procurement of replacement items; and inspects warranty parts. Maintains and monitors the fire and burglary systems. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Training and Experience Requirements High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D), and 3 years of experience in related maintenance area. License Requirements First Class C Boilers License or a Second Class C Boilers License with the ability to obtain a First Class License within six months. Knowledge Requirements Plant mechanical and electrical systems, including boilers, operations, and maintenance Fire and burglary alarm operations Procedures and methods related to area of assignment Tools, equipment, and materials relevant to area of assignment Recordkeeping principles Inventory principles Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations Safe work practices Skill Requirements Operating and maintaining plant mechanical and electrical systems, including boilers; Operating and monitoring fire and burglary alarm systems; Performing trades maintenance activities; Using applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment; Reading blueprints, schematic drawings, and/or construction drawings; Troubleshooting systems related to area of assignment; Preparing and maintaining a variety of maintenance records; Monitoring and maintaining inventory; Applying local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
