$90,000.00 - $120,000.00/yr Your Purpose in This Key Role Steen Engineering is seeking an experienced Commissioning Agent to help ensure the systems we design and support perform exactly as intended-from initial startup through long-term operation. This role serves as a key technical partner to project teams, contractors, building owners, and design professionals, helping bridge the gap between design intent and real-world building performance. What You'll Do CommissioningBuilding Performance Review and reconcile Owner's Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD) documents. Develop commissioning plans and functional performance test procedures. Create functional testing scripts from controls drawings and operational sequences. Perform functional testing of HVAC equipment and building systems for new construction and retro-commissioning projects. Validate equipment operation, system integration, and controls performance. Work closely with contractors, controls vendors, and site personnel to resolve issues and optimize system performance. Conduct site visits, field observations, and performance verification activities. Project LeadershipClient Service Lead commissioning activities from project kickoff through occupancy and post-construction support. Serve as a trusted point of contact for owners, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders. Facilitate meetings, communicate project progress, and proactively address challenges. Coordinate commissioning schedules, priorities, and deliverables across multiple projects. Manage scope, schedule, and resources while identifying and communicating potential risks. Technical CollaborationQuality Assurance Collaborate with design teams to support project goals and system performance requirements. Review drawings, specifications, controls sequences, and submittals for commissioning compliance. Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance processes that uphold Steen's commitment to excellence. Help ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with client expectations. Business DevelopmentPractice Growth Build and maintain strong client relationships that contribute to repeat business and new opportunities. Represent Steen professionally throughout the design, construction, and commissioning process. Identify opportunities to expand commissioning services and strengthen client partnerships. Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continued growth of Steen's commissioning expertise. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 7-20 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical engineering, HVAC design, building systems, or project management. Experience with central plant systems, HVAC controls, building automation systems, and commissioning processes. Strong understanding of applicable building codes, standards, and construction practices. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and industry-standard analysis tools. Commissioning certification (BCxP, CxA, CCP, or similar) or willingness to obtain certification. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a commitment to continuous learning.
