3pm - 11:30 pm with a half-hour break Monday-Friday + on call About the Role The YWCA is seeking a motivated, hands-on Facilities Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for our members, staff, and visitors. This role is ideal for someone with equipment maintenance skills who enjoys problem-solving, takes initiative, and excels at both independent and team-based work. The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring the reliability of fitness equipment, facility systems, pools, and building spaces. Key Responsibilities Facility & Equipment Maintenance Maintain and repair fitness equipment, ensuring at least 90% operational uptime . Identify and correct unsafe conditions on the fitness floor. Support the Building Engineer with facility repairs, including small projects, painting/patching, pool systems, electrical, HVAC, and grounds work. Complete scheduled pool checks , including logs and follow-up chemical adjustments. Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer specifications. Conduct and document regular equipment inspections. Create and maintain an effective parts inventory. Provide after-hours/on-call support as scheduled. Administrative Responsibilities Complete checklists, building logs, equipment logs, preventive maintenance documentation, and inspections. Monitor repair status and communicate with signage. Track all repair and maintenance costs. Collaborate with the fitness team on equipment improvements aligned with membership needs. Communicate effectively with vendors and follow a 24-hour service call policy. Attend required meetings and trainings. Qualifications Required Trade or Technical School degree. 2+ years of preventive maintenance and equipment repair experience. 1+ year custodial experience. Experience maintaining and repairing building equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team. Commitment to proper safety practices. Ability to interpret and uphold the YWCA Mission and Vision. Special Engineer licensing (or Second Class) and willingness to train for Class C Boilers License within the first year. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) OR ability to obtain within 3 months. Preferred Experience maintaining and repairing fitness equipment. CPR/AED certification (required within 30 days of hire). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. frequently. Regular walking; occasional standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and other physical movements. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. Exposure to outdoor weather, humid conditions, mechanical parts, high places, fumes, chemicals, heat, and electrical risks.
