The Role:
Injection Molding Maintenance Engineer As an Injection Molding Maintenance Engineer , you'll ensure facility and equipment efficiency while troubleshooting machine/equipment issues within a manufacturing plant. We are seeking a proactive, diligent worker for our high-speed, high-volume processes. Responsibilities include pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, process fluid systems, and monitoring equipment repair. Teamwork, electrical skills, computer literacy, machinery timing, and manual interpretation are essential.
Schedule :
Monday - Friday, 2nd and 3rd shift. Occasional weekend and day shift availability may be required. Key Responsibilities Injection Molding Technician — Required Qualifications (Electrical, Robotics, PLC & Programming Focus) Core Injection Molding Experience Minimum 2 years of hands-on injection molding processing experience. Experience with multi-cavity tools, hot runner systems, and engineering resins Strong understanding of molding fundamentals: Melt temperature, mold temperature, and cooling control Fill, pack, and hold optimization Cycle time reduction and process stability Scientific molding principles preferred Ability to start up, shut down, and troubleshoot molding cells independently. Electrical Knowledge & Troubleshooting Understanding of lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures. Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems including: 24VDC and 480VAC systems Motor controls and drives Sensors (photoeye, proximity, pressure, temperature) Heater band and thermocouple troubleshooting Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience Diagnosing:
Machine faults Communication errors Heater and temperature control failures Safety circuit issues PLC Systems & Programming Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment. Ability to read and understand ladder logic and function block diagrams. Familiarity with PLC platforms such as: Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) Siemens Mitsubishi Electric Skills may include: Monitoring I/O status Diagnosing interlocks and sequencing faults Minor program adjustments under engineering supervision Understanding of HMI interfaces and alarm diagnostics. Robotics & Automation Experience Setup, programming, and troubleshooting of injection molding robots, including: Cartesian / 3-axis robots 6-axis articulated robots (preferred) Experience with systems such as: FANUC Yaskawa Motoman Sepro Group Ability to: Teach pick-and-place positions Modify end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) Troubleshoot robot-to-press communication faults Adjust sequences for cycle optimization. Programming & Automation Skills Basic programming or logic experience preferred: Robot teach pendant programming Sequence logic understanding Timers, counters, and conditional logic Familiarity with: Machine-to-robot handshake signals Peripheral integration (conveyors, dryers, vision systems) Ability to assist with automation improvements and process automation projects. Process Monitoring & Data Skills Ability to interpret process data and trends. Understanding of traceability and production record requirements.
Experience with:
SPC or process monitoring systems Alarm history and fault tracking Process documentation and setup sheets Mechanical & Maintenance Skills Basic mechanical aptitude including: Mold installation and alignment Water and hydraulic connections EOAT setup and adjustment Ability to identify mechanical vs. process-related defects. Soft Skills & Work Practices Strong troubleshooting methodology and root cause analysis skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance, tooling, and quality teams. Clear documentation and communication of issues and corrective actions. Ability to work safely in a high-temperature, automated manufacturing environment. Demonstrate a strong sense of drive, initiative, and urgency in supporting high-volume manufacturing. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatics, including air cylinders and electro-pneumatic solenoids. Aid in troubleshooting and repairing basic hydraulics, such as cylinders, motors, and solenoids. Participate in troubleshooting and repairing centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. Contribute to troubleshooting and repairing process fluid transmission, including manual and electrical valves, pneumatic valves, check valves, and basic piping configuration. Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating process monitoring equipment, such as temperature, pressure, level, flow sensors, gauges, meters, transducers, and transmitters. Collaborate effectively within a team-based work environment. Understand machinery timing, including stroke, timing, position, dwell, and cams. Read, comprehend, and follow machine manuals, mechanical drawings, SOPs, and PID diagrams. Education High School Diploma (preferred) Requirements Authorized to work in the U.S Benefits $65,000 to $85,000/year
