Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW
MEA, named by The New York Times as "the world's first midlife wisdom school," provides 5-day workshops where participants, together with a team of MEA facilitators explore topics revolving around transitions, finding purpose, and owning wisdom, under the principle that wisdom is shared, not taught. Participants spend their time over the workshop in a combination of classroom and experiential modules, in the comfort of upscale accommodations that one could expect from a luxury boutique hotel.
JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Engineer will report directly to the Rising Circle Ranch General Manager. This position will oversee the daily maintenance of our Santa Fe campus. The ideal candidate is a strong self-starter, capable of managing teams and maintenance plans, and providing welcoming hospitality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adheres to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction.
  • Maintains knowledge of Operational departments including rooms, engineering, housekeeping, food service, programming, ranch operations, and land management.
  • Ensure the facility maintenance and upkeep for all buildings on Rising Circle Ranch meet MEA standards.
  • Create and implement departmental procedures for performing repairs, maintenance, alteration, and installation work in a safe and neat manner.
  • Comply with the latest insurance, local county, state, and federal government codes, laws, and requirements.
  • Determine defects, troubleshoot malfunctions, take necessary corrective action, and document ongoing issues.
  • Initiate training of new department associates on equipment and the daily functions of the hospitality segment of the Ranch.
  • Delegate and schedule shifts and tasks for the Maintenance team.
  • Identify and schedule repair of facilities and FFE as needed.
  • Function as a member of the emergency organization team and become an expert on life safety systems, fire safety, and protection equipment/hazards.
  • Schedule and complete preventive maintenance programs on guest rooms and equipment.
  • Control operating costs by effectively tracking expenses, fixed monthly costs, and any/all purchases for the engineering department.
  • Acts as a technical liaison to all other departments.
  • Ensure service requests are followed up on, completed, and communicated to teams.
  • Review and evaluate utility reports with input on energy conservation.
  • Manage inventory of necessary supplies and tools on hand.
  • Monitor and perform system tests as necessary.
  • Participate in regular property walk-through and complete identified deficiencies within an appropriate time.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A hands-on leadership style—expect to spend approximately 80% of your time working alongside your team in the field.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, dedicating about 20% of your time to scheduling, purchasing, work orders, and communication.
  • Extensive technical knowledge across HVAC/R, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, and works well as a team player.

Demonstrates strong analytical skills and effectively utilizes data paired with experience to support decision-making processes.
    Organizational and Planning Skills:
    Demonstrates good planning and organizational abilities, ensuring efficient management of tasks and resources.
    • Technology skills including Google Suite (calendar, documents, email)
    • Previous experience in a hospitality maintenance leadership position, or similar industry
    • Collaborative working style within a results-oriented, mission-driven organization
    • Startup experience, comfortable with nimble and fast paced, self-directed projects
    Pay:
    $82,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
