Responsibilities:
Performance Engineering Use power plant data collection systems to evaluate plant performance (thermodynamic cycle, pumps, heat exchangers, turbine-generator sets, mechanical health) Use performance findings to help Operations maximize electricity generation and equipment reliability Propose projects to improve facility performance, reliability, and/or safety Provide project design and management Select and manage vendors for specialized projects and services Create QA/QC plans for projects; manage compliance, documentation, and post-implementation monitoring Provide facilities troubleshooting proactively and when required Conduct root cause investigations and develop mitigation strategies for equipment failures Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing work scopes for plant outages Organizational Support Present and support technical analysis to Operations/Management team Deliver or advise on standard maintenance practices and potential improvements Write and maintain standard operating procedures for facility equipment Provide peer review of technical proposals from within and outside the organization Travel to power plants regularly to provide on-site support and establish relationships with plant staff Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including MOC and PHA Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs and installations meet environmental and safety requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical, chemical or related engineering field from an accredited university. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Experience doing fluid flow and energy balance calculations. Experience with mechanical design, equipment selection, and machinery assessment Experience using pipe design codes, preferably ASME B31.1 and B31.3. Experience with project development, execution and management Foundational understanding of thermodynamic principles, power cycles (binary/flash), and thermal system optimization preferred. Ability to conduct thermodynamic cycle analysis to evaluate binary/flash cycle efficiency and identify improvements Ability to select appropriate materials and sizing for piping, vales, fittings, based on pressure, temperature, and corrosion resistance. Ability to develop basis of design, scopes of work, and/or detailed equipment specifications Ability to develop and communicate project scopes, work plans, and schedules to internal and external stakeholders Ability to work safely and collaboratively Ability to drive system improvements and take initiative Ability to interpret and create engineering drawing (P&ID, One-Lines, Cause & Effect, Control Philosophies, etc.) Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel in a high intensity environment Ability to complete domestic travel, up to 25%. Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences including technicians, engineers, stakeholders, vendors, and partners Ability to utilize critical software for process automation and electrical distribution and protective systems Ability to work in remote field locations, outside, and in difficult weather Ability to sit, for long periods of time When on plant locations: Ability to stand, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly. Ability to walk moderate distances over uneven ground. Able to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, and UT. Able to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 50'. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

$75,000
  • $100,000 This range is based on market pay structures.
Individual compensation is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications, such as demonstrated skill level, education, and experience.
