Job Description
Tesla's Factory Engineering team is seeking a Plumbing Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing Tesla's mission of Amazing Abundance. Help create and optimize the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, produce cutting-edge detailed design of Plumbing and other factory utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and innovation. Design and develop plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, sanitation, and fire protection systems Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and hydraulic calculations to ensure systems meet project specifications and regulatory standards (e.g., UPC, IPC, or local codes) Collaborate with architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, facility operations, and project managers to integrate plumbing designs into overall building plans, resolving conflicts and optimizing layouts while maintaining project budget and schedule Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of plumbing systems, including troubleshooting issues during construction and continually changing inputs Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g., smart plumbing systems), and regulatory changes Willingness to research and contribute with innovative and traditional ideas to solve challenging and difficult engineering problems Possess excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing design and engineering, preferably in a consulting firm, construction company, or similar environment Experience leading small to medium size projects from a plumbing design perspective Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred ASPE Certified Plumbing Designer "CPD" preferred Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D) and knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes Strong understanding of plumbing codes, standards, and best practices, including
IPC, UPC, NFPA
