Portland OR (hybrid - 2 days on-site) Duration of project: 8-12 months Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented HVAC Designer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and efficient mechanical system designs for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across diverse construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure that all systems meet industry standards, client specifications, and safety codes, contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient building solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and utilize cutting-edge CAD and design software to bring complex HVAC concepts to life. Duties Develop comprehensive HVAC system designs using advanced CAD tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and NavisWorks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements. Create detailed schematics, layout drawings, and system diagrams aligned with industry standards like ASME codes & standards. Utilize 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER for mechanical component design and assembly visualization. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure precise manufacturing and installation of mechanical parts. Conduct system simulations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to evaluate performance under various conditions, optimizing design efficiency. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into building plans while maintaining compliance with local codes. Prepare technical documentation including specifications, technical writing reports, and assembly instructions for manufacturing and construction teams. Review schematics and design drawings for accuracy; modify designs based on client feedback or project constraints. Support construction teams during installation by providing detailed drawings and technical guidance to ensure proper execution of HVAC systems. Experience Proven experience in mechanical design related to HVAC systems within the construction or engineering industry. Strong proficiency in CAD software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, NavisWorks, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER. Familiarity with industry standards including ASME codes & standards for mechanical components and system safety. Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles applied to system design, schematics creation, and technical drafting. Experience conducting FEA analysis and utilizing 2D animation tools for visualization purposes is a plus. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction documents accurately. Excellent technical writing skills for preparing detailed reports and documentation required during project phases. Prior involvement in construction projects involving system integration from concept through installation is highly desirable.
