Job Summary Has a strong understanding of critical facilities operations and works on a broad range of engineering assignments requiring sound judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations. The role focuses on executing operational, maintenance, and incident‑response activities using a solid understanding of standard operating procedures while supporting overall site reliability and team effectiveness. Responsibilities Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on facility components and systems to support reliable operations Executes repairs, maintenance activities, installations, and on‑site inspections across facility systems, supporting energy efficiency initiatives where applicable Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms requiring judgment and analysis while adhering to standard operating procedures Operates and maintains plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems in accordance with site standards Supports operation of critical infrastructure, escalating complex or high‑risk activities to senior engineers when required Performs day‑to‑day work with limited instruction and receives general guidance for newly introduced tasks or non‑routine activities Vendor Support Supports the work approval and oversight process for service providers performing maintenance activities, including pre‑work briefings, monitoring work execution, and reviewing completed work Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with Equinix standard operating procedures and safety requirements Works with vendors to update technical documentation, drawings, and records for facility plants and equipment to ensure accuracy and completeness Site Administration & Incident Support Prepares and maintains site documentation and permit records, including Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) within facility systems and provides recommendations to improve resilience Responds to on‑site incidents, including equipment failures, operational issues, and service delays, following established incident procedures Applies a strong understanding of operating procedures to support on‑site administration and compliance Work Orders & Additional Projects Completes operational work requests and supports facility‑related system and circuit installations Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of auxiliary and supporting equipment to minimize downtime Makes approved changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed Supports and participates in infrastructure and site improvement projects Collaboration Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to resolve facility incidents and operational issues Works effectively within the department and may provide guidance or informal mentoring to team members on general maintenance activities Communicates inventory and spare‑parts requirements to stakeholders to maintain appropriate stock levels May recommend facility or infrastructure improvement projects based on operational experience Qualifications Typical Degree & Years of Experience Typically requires a Diploma in an engineering field and 3-5 years of equivalent work experience, preferably in critical facilities, data center operations, or a related technical environment The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are: United States
