Facilities Engineering Associate (Mechanical Engineer)

Supported by a large base of repeat clients, the firm continues to grow and is seeking a Facilities Engineering Associate (Mechanical Engineer) to join its team. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely while contributing to a wide range of complex and technically challenging projects across mission-critical, industrial, and commercial sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical building systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. This role is well suited for a motivated engineer who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, solving complex engineering challenges, and supporting projects from concept through construction. Key Responsibilities Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, construction documents, and system layouts. Perform facility assessments, site investigations, and engineering evaluations. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery. Support construction administration activities and provide technical guidance during project execution. Conduct periodic site visits in Endicott, NY to gather field information and support project requirements. Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 5-10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification will be considered. Demonstrated experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design. Strong understanding of building systems, engineering principles, and construction practices. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively managing project deadlines. Project Types This position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects, including data centers, manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, infrastructure improvements, and other mission-critical environments. Engineers in this role will have the opportunity to work on projects that directly impact critical operations and essential services.
