Job Description

Mechanical Department Manager - Atlanta, GA A nationally recognized MEP consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Department Manager to lead its HVAC engineering team in Alpharetta, GA. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage a team of 5-7 engineers, oversee technical design, and contribute to high-performance building projects across a wide range of sectors.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of HVAC engineers, fostering professional development and ensuring quality project deliveryOversee HVAC system design, including ductwork, piping, equipment sizing, and controlsConduct engineering studies, calculations, and prepare specifications and sequences of operationProvide technical oversight and quality control across department projectsAttend client meetings, present design concepts, and ensure client satisfactionConduct site visits to support project implementation and resolve field issues
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldActive Professional Engineer (PE) licenseMinimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within an MEP consulting environmentStrong knowledge of HVAC system design, hydronic systems, and controlsFamiliarity with building codes and standards (ICC, NFPA, ASHRAE)Proven leadership and project management experienceProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office SuiteBasic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
