Job Description The Plumbing Engineer will design, engineer, and oversee the installation of plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and government facilities. This role combines hands-on design work in AutoCAD and Revit with field surveys, construction oversight, and close collaboration with architects, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Responsibilities + Design and engineer plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and government facilities in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices. + Conduct field surveys and assessments to evaluate existing plumbing and fire protection systems and gather data to inform design decisions. + Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders to develop design specifications and ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations. + Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, new work plans, demolition plans, riser diagrams, schedules, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. + Perform design calculations to verify system performance, capacity, and accuracy, and incorporate findings into design documents. + Review project budgets and timelines and recommend cost-effective and feasible design alternatives and implementation strategies. + Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members throughout the project lifecycle. + Conduct on-site inspections and oversee the construction and installation of plumbing and fire protection systems to verify compliance with engineering standards, design intent, and industry practices. + Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, to ensure fully integrated building systems. + Work with vendors on equipment specifications and selections, ensuring compatibility with project requirements and design standards. + Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for project stakeholders, including internal leadership and clients. + Use AutoCAD and Revit to design plumbing and fire protection systems and to set up new projects for the engineering team. + Utilize Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook, to support documentation, collaboration, and presentations. + Stay current with new technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and participate in industry associations and events to maintain professional connections. + Work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality work, manage multiple assignments, and meet project deadlines. + Travel as required for project execution, including site surveys, punch-list activities, and field observations during construction. + Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and computer skills in daily interactions with colleagues, clients, and project partners. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred, with equivalent experience considered. + 5-7 years of professional experience in an engineering role, ideally focused on plumbing and fire protection systems. + Proven experience in plumbing design and fire protection engineering for building projects. + Strong understanding of construction documents, particularly MEP/FP drawings and specifications. + Solid understanding of building systems and their integration, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection. + Proficiency in AutoCAD for the preparation of plans, details, and technical drawings. + Proficiency in Revit for modeling and coordinating plumbing and fire protection systems. + Experience with Bluebeam for reviewing, marking up, and collaborating on drawings and documents. + Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and apply engineering judgment. + Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage time efficiently in a deadline-driven environment. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and project partners. + Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. + Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design, documentation, and project coordination. + Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and professionalism. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
