POSITION OVERVIEW
The Plumbing Designer is involved in leading the technical development of plumbing and fire protection solutions for diverse building projects, guiding efforts from early concepts through construction support. You'll ensure exceptional project outputs, help grow the team's expertise through coaching, and engage regularly with colleagues and clients in meetings and onsite reviews.
LOCATION
Pittsburgh, PA or Arlington, VA with travel to client and project sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and construction administration of plumbing and fire protection systems for both new and renovated building projects across multiple markets. Develop high-quality drawings, specifications, and deliverables at each phase of the design process. Provide mentorship and contribute to strengthening engineering expertise within the firm. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners through regular project meetings and coordination sessions. Work closely with architects, engineers, interior designers, and subconsultants to produce coordinated drawing sets. Participate in site visits and field investigations alongside team members to support project needs. Engage in interviews and pursuits for new project opportunities. Support firmwide Social and Eco initiatives that advance our Triple Bottom Line and B Corp commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 5+ years of relevant design experience in the building industry. Project experience in healthcare, laboratories, higher education, or government facilities preferred. Proficiency in the use of Revit and engineering modeling tools. Use of cloud-based and mobile technology for project collaboration. Experience addressing Legionella contamination in plumbing systems. Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) credential. Fire Protection Engineering license. Exceptional communication and listening skills, capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Strong leadership and organizational abilities, along with a commitment to actively engage and contribute to company culture.
