Reach out directly to Chaney Cornell at chcornell@actalentservices .com with a most up-to-date copy of your resume Job Description The Senior Plumbing Designer will design and develop plumbing systems for a wide range of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects, including industrial facilities, warehouses, tenant improvements, higher education, K-12 schools, hotels, office buildings, and large food service buildings. This role focuses on producing high-quality construction documents, coordinating with internal design and construction teams, and supporting projects primarily across the Midwest, with opportunities to work on projects throughout the United States. The position offers a design/build environment with strong professional growth potential, flexible work arrangements, and a stable, well-supported workload. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive plumbing system construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. Size domestic water, sanitary, and storm systems and associated piping to meet project and code requirements. Size compressed air and gas systems, including natural gas and medical gas, for a variety of building types. Select plumbing fixtures and equipment that align with project performance, code, and client requirements. Perform field surveys to support proposals and assist in developing accurate and competitive project proposals. Represent the company at client meetings, communicating design intent and addressing technical questions. Participate in project review meetings to coordinate with internal disciplines and refine design approaches. Develop and adjust project approaches and direct detailed phases of plumbing design throughout the project lifecycle. Complete and check engineering reports, calculations, and supporting documentation for plumbing systems. Create detailed drawings and specifications using Revit and related tools to support construction and coordination. Perform construction administration activities, including responding to field questions, reviewing submittals, and supporting issue resolution during construction. Collaborate closely with electrical, BIM, construction management, and other internal teams to deliver integrated design/build solutions. Manage discipline-specific tasks to meet project schedules and deadlines while maintaining high technical quality. Resolve discipline-related issues that arise during design and construction in a timely and effective manner. Essential Skills At least 10 years of plumbing design experience in commercial or industrial fields. Strong proficiency with Revit and Revit MEP for plumbing design and drafting. Proven experience developing final engineering deliverables, including drawings and specifications for plumbing systems. Technical aptitude to manage and coordinate all activities within the plumbing discipline on assigned projects. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve discipline-specific issues during design and construction. Demonstrated ability to manage project time effectively and consistently meet deadlines. Thorough understanding of the plumbing trade and the requirements for high-quality final deliverables. Ability to create accurate reports, calculations, and construction documents for plumbing systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to step into a lead role, running projects with clients and internal multidisciplinary teams. Experience providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members. Familiarity with design/build project delivery and in-house coordination with construction teams. Comfort representing the company in client-facing meetings and project review sessions. Experience with plumbing design for a variety of project types, such as higher education, K-12, hotels, office buildings, warehouses, industrial facilities, and food service buildings. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with electrical, BIM, and construction management teams. Work Environment This position is based in a modern office located in Fishers, Indiana, near downtown Fishers and with convenient access to the highway. The workspace consists of a standard office layout with cubicles and private offices, designed to support collaboration and frequent interaction with other teams, including electrical, BIM, and construction management. The culture is highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on integrated design/build project delivery and in-house coordination rather than extensive back-and-forth with external general contractors and subcontractors. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility in start time (generally between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.) to accommodate an eight-hour workday. A hybrid work model is available, with remote work options typically becoming available after the first 60 days and most team members working in the office 2-3 days per week. The team usually averages 40-45 hours per week and operates in a stable environment with consistent full-time workloads. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Fishers, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $53.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
