This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Associate, Repair & Maintenance Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for applying technical knowledge to support maintenance programs for facilities and equipment. You will coordinate maintenance work, review specifications, and participate in equipment installation. In this role, a typical day will include: Machining Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders). Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators. Machine parts to required tolerances, finishes, and dimensions. Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds as required. Fabrication Lay out, cut, form, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools. Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick (as required). Fabricate frames, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and structural components. Repair damaged equipment and modify existing structures to improve reliability and safety. Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications. Maintenance & Support Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work. Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering. Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools.
