Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) Match, PTO, Company Vehicle (Personal Use Allowed) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced BAS Project Engineer to support the design, programming, commissioning, and execution of Building Automation and HVAC controls projects throughout Central Virginia. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Distech Controls , BACnet systems, HVAC applications, and project delivery from design through startup and closeout. The BAS Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, field technicians, subcontractors, and customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. Similar Richmond-area BAS engineering roles typically include DDC programming, HVAC controls design, commissioning, submittals, and customer support responsibilities. Essential Responsibilities Design and engineer BAS/DDC control systems for HVAC applications Program and configure Distech Controls controllers and front-end software Develop sequences of operation, control drawings, and submittal packages Create graphics, databases, trend logs, alarms, and reporting functions Coordinate with mechanical contractors, electricians, and owners Review project specifications and ensure compliance with customer requirements Support commissioning, startup, point-to-point verification, and troubleshooting Generate as-built documentation and project closeout packages Provide technical support and training to customers and internal staff Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedule and budget objectives Qualifications 3+ years of
BAS, HVAC
controls, or automation engineering experience Experience with Distech Controls EC-Net , ECB/ECL controllers, and BACnet systems Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and control sequences Experience with Niagara Framework, Tridium, or similar BAS platforms preferred Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications Knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, or similar engineering software Strong communication and project coordination skills Valid driver's licence with acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Niagara N4 Certification Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and third-party integrations Prior commissioning and startup experience Energy management and analytics experience Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Annual performance bonus 401(k) with company match Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Professional training and certification reimbursement Company vehicle provided with approved personal-use privileges
