ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Location Anchorage, AK Department Construction Services Classification Seasonal Job Description R&M is looking for a team-oriented entry level Engineering Technician to support expansion of our materials testing team. As a member of the R&M team, the Engineering Technician will perform materials testing on samples in our certified Anchorage materials lab and on projects in the Anchorage/Wasilla area to provide accurate information on to the project team regarding construction materials. This position typically requires overtime hours. The Engineering Technician will report to the Group Manager of Materials Testing and Special Inspections. On Any Given Day On a typical day, the Engineering Technician will: Perform field sampling and testing on projects for soils density analysis. Perform testing to determine properties of fresh concrete during placement. Perform sampling and testing during Hot Mix Asphalt paving operations. Sample aggregates during production of concrete and/or asphalt at the batch plant. Perform particle size analysis testing on sampled aggregate from concrete and/or HMA batch plant. Communicate with clients to evaluate schedule for following day and collaborate with Materials team leaders to provide services at critical projects. Deliver daily test results via e-mail at the end of each daily shift. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma Currently have or be able to obtain applicable WAQTC, ACI or NICET materials testing certifications. Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
