Engineering Technician Job Description The Engineering Technician supports printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing by performing detailed cross-section and chemical analyses in an industrial laboratory setting. This role focuses on identifying and resolving manufacturing defects, preparing accurate laboratory reports, and ensuring that all testing and documentation meet established quality standards. Responsibilities Conduct cross-section analysis of printed circuit boards (PCBs) to identify, investigate, and help resolve manufacturing defects. Perform chemical analysis of production chemistries used throughout PCB manufacturing processes. Prepare cross-section samples for all phases of PCB production, ensuring samples meet required specifications and quality standards. Prepare clear and accurate laboratory reports for review, documenting test methods, findings, and conclusions. Complete internal departmental documentation accurately and in a timely manner to support traceability and quality control. Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition in accordance with laboratory and facility standards. Follow documented procedures consistently and maintain proper accept/reject disposition for tested materials and products. Operate and monitor laboratory equipment used for mechanical, thermal, or chemical testing of materials. Work independently to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and meet production and testing deadlines. Interact with employees and team members in a pleasant and professional manner to support effective collaboration and communication. Essential Skills Hands-on experience working with printed circuit boards (PCBs), including cross-section analysis and inspection. Experience using laboratory equipment for mechanical, thermal, or chemical testing. Ability to perform chemical analysis of production chemistries in a laboratory environment. Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete documentation and laboratory reports accurately. Ability to follow documented procedures and apply accept/reject criteria consistently. Capability to lift up to 15 lbs without straining as part of routine laboratory and production support tasks. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with employees and team members in a pleasant and professional manner. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment, particularly related to PCB production, is beneficial. Familiarity with cross-section sample preparation techniques and related laboratory practices is an advantage. Comfort working with a variety of lab equipment and tools used for mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tests, samples, and documentation requirements. Work Environment This position is based in an industrial laboratory that supports PCB manufacturing operations. The role involves regular use of laboratory equipment for mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing, as well as handling and preparing PCB cross-section samples. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and organization, and the technician is expected to maintain a clean and orderly workspace at all times. Work is hands-on and may involve standing for periods of time and lifting items up to 15 lbs. The setting is collaborative, with frequent interaction with production and engineering staff, while also requiring the ability to work independently and focus on detailed analytical tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
