Job Description The Engineering Technician provides technical and administrative support to the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) engineering team within an aerospace R D lab. This role helps facilitate the processing and delivery of inspection tools, supports analysis of NDE data, and tracks inspector assignments and progress. The position contributes directly to developing universal inspection methods for aerospace parts by supporting non-destructive evaluations such as eddy current, ultrasonic, and borescope techniques for both commercial and military engines. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the NDE engineering team to ensure smooth execution of inspection projects. Coordinate inspection assignments for NDE inspectors and track the progress and completion of their inspection results. Support the processing and delivery of inspection tools and equipment, ensuring they meet project and schedule requirements. Assist with the analysis workflow for NDE data by organizing, tracking, and documenting inspection results and related information. Request quotes from vendors, monitor order status against schedule requirements, and verify that technical and quality requirements are met upon delivery. Perform technical and inventory activities under the direction of NDE engineers to support commercial and military engine programs. Prepare parts for fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. Clean parts after inspection and ensure they are properly handled, labeled, and maintained to prevent damage or mix-ups. Package parts appropriately after inspection, following all handling, labeling, and documentation requirements. Prepare, review, and maintain inspection documentation, including reports, logs, and records to support traceability and quality compliance. Proctor NDE inspectors during qualification or certification activities to ensure adherence to procedures and standards. Travel approximately 20-30% of the time to qualify inspector locations and support remote inspection activities as needed. Support the development and refinement of universal non-destructive inspection methods using eddy current, ultrasonic, and borescope techniques. Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to support root cause analysis and process control efforts related to NDT and quality systems. Work independently to manage assigned tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, changing-priorities environment. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including various levels of management, to provide updates on inspection status and technical issues. Use SAP and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, to track inventory, assignments, schedules, and inspection data. Support the establishment and maintenance of NDT and general quality systems and methods in alignment with aerospace industry standards. Essential Skills Associate Degree in Technology or Bachelor of Technology (Engineering Technology preferred). Experience that includes a background in establishing non-destructive testing (NDT) and general quality systems and NDT methods. Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations and related quality requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data tracking, reporting, and analysis. Experience using SAP and the broader Microsoft Office suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and internal and external customers. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a changing-priorities environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy. Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis and process control tools. Hands-on technical aptitude related to electronics, electrical systems, test equipment, and blueprint interpretation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate of Science in Engineering Technology (ASET) or a Bachelor of Technology in a related field preferred. Experience supporting or performing non-destructive evaluations such as eddy current, ultrasonic, and borescope inspections. Familiarity with fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) processes, including part preparation, inspection, and post-inspection cleaning. Experience working in aerospace, aviation, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments. Demonstrated ability to support inventory management and logistics for inspection tools, parts, and related equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy and traceability. Comfort with traveling approximately 20-30% of the time to support and qualify inspector locations. Proven ability to thrive in a structured, process-driven organization while adapting to evolving project priorities. Work involves close collaboration with NDE engineers, inspectors, and cross-functional stakeholders in a structured, process-driven organization. The group frequently adjusts priorities to respond to emerging technical challenges and flight safety issues, so flexibility and adaptability are important. The position supports both commercial and military engine programs, with access to advanced test equipment, inspection tools, and enterprise systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office. The schedule offers flexible start and stop times as long as core hours are fulfilled. During the contract period, the role typically includes paid time off and paid holidays, with overtime opportunities at a premium rate for hours worked over 40 per week.
