Engineering Technician (Third Shift) Job Description The Engineering Technician provides hands-on manufacturing engineering support for assigned value streams, acting as a critical bridge between engineering intent and shop-floor execution. This role focuses on sustaining process capability, responding to daily production needs, maintaining work instructions and technical documentation, supporting equipment and fixture changes, and assisting Manufacturing Engineers with troubleshooting, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Execute hands-on assembly, build, test, repair, and data collection activities to support manufacturing engineering changes, validations, and daily production stability. Follow prints, work instructions, and defined process windows with discipline while troubleshooting basic issues on the shop floor. Assemble prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and test setups according to approved prints and work instructions, and support first article inspections and line trials. Perform dimensional checks and basic metrology, and accurately log data on yield, cycle time, and defects to enable fact-based engineering decisions. Execute preventive maintenance and minor corrective maintenance on production fixtures, tools, and test equipment to sustain process stability. Troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and process issues on the shop floor, isolating faults and escalating with clear, concise technical information when needed. Audit work instructions and checklists, providing feedback and redlines to improve clarity, accuracy, and usability. Maintain strong 5S standards and organization at workstations, labs, benches, and tool cribs to support safe and efficient operations. Adjust processes within kitting, cutting, and forming operations, with a heavy focus on heating and pressurization steps. Maintain accurate technical records, documentation, and reports related to builds, tests, maintenance, and process changes. Work independently during third shift, proactively identifying and completing productive tasks even when immediate direction is not available. Support continuous improvement and kaizen activities aimed at enhancing process capability, product quality, and operational efficiency. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or mechanical environment. Mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience troubleshooting equipment and mechanical assemblies. Ability to operate various PLC-controlled production equipment safely and effectively. Ability to read, write, and interpret technical reports, prints, and work instructions. Ability to file, organize, and maintain accurate records and technical documentation. Experience building, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and assemblies. Strong attention to detail in following process windows, performing measurements, and recording data. Capability to work independently on third shift without direct on-site managerial supervision. Comfort working in an environment with evolving and not fully defined processes, with the ability to navigate ambiguity. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET) or an Associate's Degree is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred. Experience with process improvement and manufacturing process optimization. Exposure to tooling, machining, and fabrication activities. Familiarity with 5S principles, preventive maintenance practices, and continuous improvement or kaizen initiatives. Strong communication skills to clearly escalate technical issues and provide feedback on documentation and processes. Self-motivated mindset with the initiative to seek out productive work during slower periods. Work Environment This position is a third shift role, typically scheduled from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and is not generally expected to require overtime. You will work in a fast-paced, modern manufacturing environment that has been recently remodeled and is described as extremely clean, with dedicated areas such as a game room to support employee well-being. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
