Job Description
Senior Hardware EngineerCompany OverviewWe are a publicly traded communications software/hardware company that has proudly been in business for over 20 years! We are on a mission to provide the highest quality service possible and bridging the digital divide across the globe. We work across a variety of different industries and one of the first global leaders in our space that is constantly innovating and working with the latest technologies.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of high-performance electronic products with an emphasis on RF systems and PCB design. The role will drive hardware architecture from concept through production, solving complex mixed-signal and high-speed challenges while collaborating with cross-functional teams (firmware, mechanical, systems) and mentoring junior engineers. The successful candidate will be hands-on in schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, lab validation and failure analysis to ensure reliable, manufacturable products.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end hardware development including requirements capture, architecture, schematic design, PCB layout coordination, and design for manufacturability focused on RF and mixed-signal systems.
Design, simulate, and validate RF front-ends, analog and digital circuits including filters, mixers, amplifiers, and oscillators; optimize for noise, linearity, and signal integrity.
Create and review PCB layouts for high-speed and mixed-signal designs, enforce stackup, routing, and grounding best practices, and work with PCB fabricators and assembly partners.
Develop and execute test plans, perform bench validation and characterization using oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and other lab equipment; capture and analyze measurement data to drive design improvements.
Debug prototypes and production units, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and support yield and reliability improvements.
Work closely with firmware and FPGA engineers to define interfaces (Ethernet, serial communication, high-speed serializers/deserializers) and support integration and bring-up activities.
Drive design reviews, document design decisions, produce datasheets/BOMs, and maintain thorough design documentation to meet regulatory and quality requirements.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, provide technical leadership across projects, and collaborate with program managers to meet schedules and deliverables.
QualificationsBachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.7+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of product development life cycle.
Required:
Proven experience in RF systems design and PCB design (schematic capture and layout), with an understanding of RF components and transmission-line principles.
Strong skills in analog and digital circuit design, mixed-signal systems, and high-speed design principles (signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and shielding).Proficient with simulation and design tools such as SPICE, ADS, HFSS, or similar; PCB tools such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics.
Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, network/spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power supplies, and lab instrumentation for characterization and debugging.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; experience leading design reviews and collaborating across disciplines.
Nice to have: experience with Ethernet, serial communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C), FPGA integration, mixers, amplifiers, oscillators, electronic circuit prototyping, and experience addressing high-speed and mixed-signal layout challenges. Familiarity with EMC/EMI mitigation and regulatory compliance is a plus.
