7:00-4:00pm PST Position Overview Client is seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Corporate Engineering Services team in San Diego. This role supports engineering teams by troubleshooting hardware issues, performing PCB assembly and rework, building prototypes, and supporting hardware development activities. The technician will collaborate with hardware, mechanical, component, sourcing, CAD, and program management teams to support the design, testing, assembly, and delivery of lab and test hardware. The position requires strong hands-on electronics assembly skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot hardware and engineering test platform issues. Perform root cause analysis on rework failures. Build and support engineering reference devices and prototypes. Prepare, load, solder, and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs). Perform repair, modification, and rework of electronic assemblies. Assemble racks, chassis, test boxes, and reference devices. Fabricate wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and PCBs. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Maintain prototype lab materials, equipment, and tools. Assist with PCB/PWB layout design and documentation. Develop rework instructions and support new manufacturing processes. Evaluate reliability of materials and techniques used in test platforms. Support multiple projects with aggressive timelines. Communicate effectively with engineering teams across the U.S., India, and Europe. Collaborate with RF, Analog, Mixed-Signal, and Digital Engineering teams. Required Skills Electronics troubleshooting and hardware debugging. PCB assembly, soldering, and rework experience.
Ability to read and interpret:
Schematics Blueprints Wiring diagrams Wire lists Technical drawings Mechanical assembly experience.
Experience assembling:
Chassis Racks Cable assemblies Wire harnesses Skilled in CCA soldering and blue-wire modifications. Experience disassembling and reassembling electronic devices. Proficiency using assembly tools and equipment.
Ability to operate:
SMT equipment Chip rework stations 3D printers CNC machines Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with AI tools to improve productivity. Preferred Qualifications Pursuing or completed degree in: Mechanical Engineering (ME) Electrical Engineering (EE) Related Technical Field Soldering and/or ESD Certification. Creo CAD experience. Desktop CNC and SMT machine programming experience. 3+ years of electronic or mechanical assembly experience. 2+ years using assembly tools and equipment such as: Soldering irons Crimpers Heat guns Hand tools 1+ year of wire harness and cable assembly fabrication experience. Understanding of PCB/PWB design principles, standards, and best practices.
