Job Duties:
Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop, and test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. Develop, modify, and enhance functional and stress tests to identify silicon bugs on emulator. Instrument firmware code to support failure debug. Triage failures with design, verification, firmware, software, and emulation teams. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.
Requirements:
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role. Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role. Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:
  • SOC or system architecture;
  • Functional verification of microprocessors;
  • Python;
  • System or SOC-level debug and triage;
  • Defining requirements for manufacturing validation;
  • Applying emulation and platform-level tools and techniques to ensure performance to specification; and
  • Developing AI-based triaging tools for improving debugging efficiency.

Job Duties:
Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Devise validation strategy from pre-silicon through customer adoption working across architecture, silicon design, firmware, validation, and debug teams. Drive debug and resolution of Zen CPU validation issues across silicon, firmware/BIOS, and coordinating with memory partners as needed. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of variety of factors. Job Duties:
Design, develop, modify, and test analog and mixed signal components/integrated circuitry for AMD's existing products and new product initiatives, and related hardware systems. Use required technologies and methodologies to simulate and test mixed-signal designs. Track signal performance and evaluate technical data to provide strategic recommendations and technical solutions to complex problems in performance and speed of AMD processors. Participate in collaborative multi-system projects related to enhancing the speed, efficiency, and performance of AMD's processors. Complete ownership of analog mixed-signal circuit blocks in CPU/GPU designs in cutting edge FinFet technology nodes. Responsible for circuit design, layout quality, electrical and timing analysis, and reliability checks. Interface with cross-functional teams like RTL, Verification and Physical Design. Propose and document specification and modification to improve analog/mixed signal circuits. Communicate project objectives and required tasks to internal team and provide external teams with updates on team's progress towards broader design/engineering objectives. Drive layout and design reviews to ensure quality of deliverables and risk mitigation. Train and mentor less experience members of technical staff and junior engineer. Provide technical feedback to more senior members of technical staff and management to influence technical decisions resulting in positive impact on final products.
