Job Title:

Lab Engineer (Temporary) Overview An organization is seeking a proactive and adaptable Lab Engineer for a temporary assignment. This position is well-suited for a hands-on professional who is comfortable working across multiple technical disciplines and enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges. The role focuses on bridging theoretical design concepts with practical testing in a laboratory environment, supporting engineering initiatives that span optics, electronics, software, and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities Test Integration Design, assemble, and troubleshoot laboratory setups involving lasers, sensors, and optomechanical systems. Data Acquisition & Automation Develop and maintain custom scripts and applications using tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar platforms. Automate testing processes and streamline data collection workflows. Calibration & Maintenance Perform regular calibration and upkeep of high-precision laboratory equipment to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Testing & Analysis Execute structured experiments, including Design of Experiments (DOE). Collect, process, and analyze experimental data to support engineering decisions. Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed test reports and documentation. Present findings and insights to cross-functional engineering teams. Cross-Functional Support Provide technical assistance across multiple projects. Effectively prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced lab environment. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Experience Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, including laboratory-based engineering work.

Technical Expertise Optics & Lasers:

Experience handling optical components, imaging systems, and laser-based equipment. Understanding of laser fundamentals and safety protocols.

Mechatronics:

Experience integrating embedded systems such as microcontrollers, PLCs, or Linux-based systems. Ability to work with sensors, actuators, and experimental control systems.

Optomechanics:

Skilled in precise alignment and mounting of optical components.

Software & Programming:

Proficiency in programming or scripting using tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C/C++ (for embedded systems). Experience in data acquisition, automation, and analysis tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in controlled or cleanroom environments (e.g., ISO Class 5-7). Familiarity with structured experimental methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DOE). Hands-on experience with motion control systems and high-precision positioning stages. Work Environment Laboratory-based role with exposure to multidisciplinary engineering systems. Requires hands-on interaction with sensitive equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
