This project aims to develop hardware based neuromorphic systems using emerging devices including Josephson junctions, magnetic Josephson junctions, and spintronic components. Many of these technologies are neuromorphic at the device level with the potential to dramatically improve both speed and energy efficiency compared to von Neumann architectures. The goal of this project is to develop new neuromorphic circuits, for example hardware based spiking neural networks, including the design, modeling, fabrication, and testing. Fabrication will be done in the NIST state-of-the-art clean room. Emphasis will be placed on developing stochastic spiking systems, reservoir computing systems, and artificial neural network-based architectures. key words Artificial neural network; Neuromorphic; magnetic Josephson junctions; Josephson junctions; Single flux quantum; Spintronics Eligibility citizenship Open to U.S. citizens level Open to Postdoctoral applicants Stipend Base Stipend Travel Allotment Supplementation $82,764.00 $3,000.00
