Job Description

PCB Design Engineer Job Description The Junior PCB Designer supports the design, simulation, layout, and validation of high‑reliability printed circuit boards used in terrestrial and aerospace applications, including participation on a VPX‑based platform supporting a satellite initiative. This is an early‑career role ideal for an Electrical Engineer trying to kickstart their career with strong Altium Designer experience gained through internships, co‑ops, or academic design projects. The role works closely with Sr engineers and cross‑functional teams to support board‑level design from schematic through manufacturing and test. Key Responsibilities Support PCB electrical design activities, including schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout for multi‑layer boards, under guidance from Sr engineers. Assist with high‑speed digital designs, including processors, memory interfaces, and communication buses. Apply fundamental PCB layout practices such as controlled‑impedance routing, differential pairs, stack‑up awareness, and basic PDN concepts. Assist with signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis, simulations, and design reviews. Support design verification activities, including board bring‑up, functional testing, troubleshooting, and lab measurements. Collaborate with firmware, software, systems, and mechanical engineers to support system‑level integration. Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, BOMs, layout files, and design notes. Support DFM/DFT reviews and help resolve fabrication or assembly issues in coordination with manufacturing partners. Learn and follow industry standards (IPC, IEEE, MIL‑STD) and internal design and quality processes. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related field (Recent graduates encouraged to apply) Internship, co‑op, or academic project experience in PCB design and layout Strong hands‑on experience with Altium Designer, including schematic capture and PCB layout Foundational understanding of digital and analog electronics Familiarity with multi‑layer PCB designs and standard manufacturing outputs (Gerbers, BOMs, fab drawings) Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based engineering environment Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills Exposure to high‑reliability electronics through internships, coursework, or projects Familiarity with high‑speed interfaces (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, LVDS) at a basic or academic level Awareness of SI/PI concepts, EMI/EMC fundamentals, or power distribution best practices Experience with HDI concepts (blind/buried vias, microvias) through coursework or project work Interest in aerospace, satellite, or mission‑critical syste Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Merritt Island, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $68.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
