Fleet Lead Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanic Student for a specialized summer role focusing on the integration of advanced vehicle safety technology. This isn't your typical "oil change" internship; you will be at the forefront of fleet safety by installing, mounting, and programming AI-powered camera systems across our vehicle lineup. This role is perfect for a student looking to gain experience in the intersection of automotive hardware and intelligent software systems.
Key Responsibilities Hardware Installation:
Perform clean installations of AI camera hardware, including mounting brackets, routing cables through interior panels, and ensuring weather-proof exterior seals.
Electrical Integration:
Tap into vehicle power sources and CAN-bus systems (where applicable) to ensure seamless hardware integration without compromising OEM wiring.
System Programming:
Use Samsara proprietary software and mobile diagnostic tools to calibrate AI cameras and program specific safety triggers (e.g., lane departure warnings, driver fatigue detection, and proximity alerts).
Quality Assurance:
Conduct "live-fire" testing of safety features to ensure the AI correctly identifies hazards and records data according to specifications.
Documentation:
Maintain precise logs of hardware serial numbers, firmware versions, and vehicle IDs for fleet management records.
Required Skills & Qualifications Educational Background:
Currently enrolled in an Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, or Mechatronics program.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow complex technical installation manuals.
Tool Proficiency:
Comfortable using basic hand tools, power drills, and multimeter/diagnostic equipment.
Tech-Savvy:
Strong familiarity with mobile apps, tablets, and Windows-based software used for hardware configuration.
Precision:
High attention to detail regarding wire routing and camera leveling. Position Details How to

Hours:
