As a Probe Card Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., within Test Solutions Engineering (TSE), Key Equipment Group (KEG); you will be responsible for design, and qualification of probe cards enabling Micron's current and next generation products. You will provide probe card-related technical direction across all Micron global Probe locations. You will work internally with Test, Assembly, Design and Product Engineering teams and High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM) site teams. You will collaborate with industry probe card suppliers and develop solutions enabling Micron's roadmap. A typical day in this position requires creativity, tenacity and innovation in the deployment of first-of-a-kind unique probe cards.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Qualify First of a Kind (FOAK) probe card technologies enabling device roadmap requirements.
  • Own and develop probe card design specifications, processes and documentation.
  • Drive probe card design reviews that result in a zero-defect design culture.
  • Manage Probe Card supplier base to address technical requirements, quality, and change management.
  • Initiate and chair meetings with Micron global Production sites in support of probe card technology.
  • De-bug pre-production probe card issues through in-depth technical analysis identifying root causes to implement corrective feedback solutions to suppliers and internal engineering groups.
  • Support ad-hoc problematic probe card tactical issue resolutions that impede technology adoption.
  • Perform statistical analysis of probe card related manufacturing data to ensure technology meets roadmap.
  • Participate in new Probe equipment definition and generate specification requirements related to probe cards.
  • Drive and own Probe card design reviews with internal peer technical teams.
  • Effectively prepare and present information to Engineering leadership teams.
  • Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with peer groups in other functional areas.
  • Contribute to probe card design rules, bond pad layout design in advancement of roadmap and technology.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates for this position must have:
  • 10 years of hands-on probe card design experience.
  • Strong understanding of analog circuits, discrete and active component selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical build specifications.
  • Hands-on wafer test cell (i.e. Probers, Tester) capability to validate probe cards designs.
  • Knowledge in mechanical thermal properties and CTE matching.
  • Previous (SI/PI) Signal Integrity and Power Integrity understanding related to probe cards.
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analysis, and design of experiments.
  • High degree of self-initiative with an ability to think and act independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple designs concurrently and see them to a conclusion based on a given timeline.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software and ability to use frequently.
Required Experience:
  • 10 years' experience in probe card design
Required Education:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
