Long Term, Contract Core Responsibilities:
Lead the Product Development Team to manage issues related to the product engineering of Exterior Hardware mechatronic components. Author Engineering Change Requests to update the designs of these parts for quality and cost improvements. Track and reduce warranty associated with these parts. Follow up with suppliers and GM personnel to assure that targets are met on time. Develops and coordinates timing of product design programs Provides technical support for solving assembly plant problems Conducts engineering activities for VDP all phases of vehicle programs Evaluates design proposals Coordinates overall engineering activities with other departments and/or divisions Initiates and evaluates cost studies Coordinates with vendors and/or customers Writes technical reports and proposals Reviews legislative and regulatory proposals or actions to determine impact on projects Almost constant contact with others outside the work group Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate level Interaction level with the team
  • Team size is anywhere from 10-15 engineers.
Constant interaction with the Program teams and the managers that own the programs the Closures DRE is overseeing to ensure the proper and timely release of hardware onto vehicle programs. If supporting a current product would be to root cause and problem solve

Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
Experience:
Position related experience
  • 5•7 years Relevant auto industry experience required•5•7 years 5 different commodities: Handles and latches 3 areas are hardware integration, closure hardware integration into vehicle programs (working on current and future GM programs, releasing closure hardware front, rear, and side) Wiper systems
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
