Job Description

Voice Recognition Engineer Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an experienced engineer to join the ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and Applications Team of the
Infotainment Development Department What You Will Do:
Lead engineering efforts focused on infotainment voice recognition (VR) systems, supporting the Infotainment Development (ID) Team's technical deliverablesContribute to the design, development, and validation of automotive voice recognition features from an OEM perspective, ensuring high performance, reliability, and seamless user interactionSupport VR development and validation from an end-to-end (E2E) perspective, ensuring seamless performance across hardware, software, cloud, and embedded componentsLead development of the North American VR platform by driving system validation efforts, including specification review, developing validation procedures, performing bench-level testing, executing in-vehicle field validation, and tracking development progressApply understanding of VR system architecture to diagnose issues, perform structured root cause analysis, and enhance team self-sufficiency in troubleshootingCollect, analyze, and interpret automotive log files from infotainment systems, vehicle networks, and VR subsystems to support rigorous root cause analysis and resolution of complex performance or integration issuesTroubleshoot and optimize VR performance across various hardware and software platforms, ensuring response consistency, compatibility, and seamless human-machine interactionApply deep knowledge of text-to-speech (TTS), automatic speech recognition (ASR), artificial intelligence (AI)-based dialog systems, and interactive voice response technologies to improve recognition accuracy, system robustness, and user experience naturalnessConduct competitive studies, customer clinics, and system evaluations to refine specifications, assess competing solutions, and troubleshoot interactions between VR components and other vehicle subsystemsCreate, evaluate, and propose innovative VR technologies for potential implementation into Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) vehicle platforms, contributing to cost-reduction strategies and long-term technical roadmaps for Hyundai and Kia infotainment systemsParticipate in interface audits, quality gate reviews, field issue assessments, and business team meetings related to VR system functionality and performanceUtilize automated VR testing toolsets and data-driven methodologies to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and coverage under diverse operating conditionsApply experience in speech processing, phonetics, acoustic modeling, and computational linguistics to enhance VR algorithms and support multi-language or region-specific feature developmentCollaborate with infotainment software, electrical engineering, product strategy, autonomous driving, navigation, and global research teams to ensure smooth integration of VR features across vehicle systemsCollaborate closely with global R D teams to influence and advance next-generation voice recognition roadmaps for future Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) vehiclesContribute to the design and evolution of cloud-based or hybrid voice assistant architectures as part of connected vehicle VR strategiesCreate technical reports, performance summaries, and engineering presentations for management and cross-functional stakeholdersSupport organizational goals by increasing North American engineering ownership and aligning local VR development with the long-term vision established by executive leadershipTravel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally What You Will Bring to the
Role:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field3+ years of developing specifications and design verification test plans pertaining to infotainment platforms, including VR1+ years of professional experience in infotainment system hardware and software design and/or its validationExperience in the design and release of electric-related structures and componentsFamiliarity with embedded systems validationUnderstanding of server developmentExperience in executing and validating scalable, reliable, and secure software solutionsFamiliarity with in-vehicle communication protocolsAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExcellent time management, self-management, and organization skillsStrong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skillsValid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record

Master's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related fieldSoftware development experienceProject management experience
