- and test-focused role responsible for integrating sensor and hardware systems onto unmanned aerial systems (UAS) platforms.
This position works within a cross-functional engineering team to configure, validate, and optimize hardware-software performance in real-world environments. The role emphasizes system integration, testing, and field validation, with limited mechanical design responsibilities, and requires strong collaboration across engineering, product support, sales, and external partners. Responsibilities Plan and execute integration of sensor and hardware systems onto UAS platforms. Collaborate with external drone providers to ensure hardware and software compatibility. Configure and set up UAS platforms for integration and testing activities. Conduct UAS flight testing, including field validation and system verification. Perform system-level hardware and software testing across integrated solutions. Develop and maintain integration and technical documentation. Create user-facing documentation to support operation and use of integrated platforms. Gather and translate cross-functional requirements into practical integration solutions. Support product sustainment and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide Level 2 engineering support and troubleshoot system issues. Contribute to light mechanical design efforts, including mounting and integration components. Create and maintain engineering drawings and bills of materials. Years of Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field. Minimum of 1 year of CAD experience (PTC Creo preferred). Experience with UAS (drone) platforms preferred. FAA Part 107 certification must be obtained within three months of employment. Skills Required Strong focus on system integration and testing within hardware-based environments. Experience or familiarity with Pixhawk autopilot hardware, PX4 and Ardupilot flight stacks, and MAVLink-based systems preferred. Ability to work across hardware, software, and field-based environments. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to support light design efforts. Ability to interpret requirements and execute independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
