Electrical Engineer Buffalo NY Position Summary The Electrical Engineer for the Sustaining Engineering team is responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating Motivair by Schneider Electric's custom electrical systems and components for liquid‑cooling and integrated power products. The role involves maintaining, upgrading, and continuously supporting the electrical design and specification aspects of the Motivair product line. The role also involves using electrical engineering expertise to support the service team with customer issues, and support queries from production. This role requires strong technical judgment, deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, and the ability to apply best industry practices to electrical designs. What will you do? Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single‑line diagrams, and control system architectures. Generate electrical layouts, routing, harness designs, and documentation packages for production. Support PLC, sensor, and control‑logic integration with cross‑functional teams. Review electrical designs for best practices, optimization, and cost-down opportunities. Confer with assemblers to resolve problems regarding the building of electrical systems. Prepare all documentation necessary for production and customer support (proposals, quotes, drawings, BOM, schematics, manuals, technical instructions, etc.). Work with suppliers and outside engineering consultants to resolve technical and supply issues, improve system features and capabilities, and investigate sources of special equipment, materials, or devices. Obtain quotes, prepare requisitions, and qualify supplier components. Maintain accurate BOMs, revision control, and adherence to internal engineering standards Other duties as assigned. (External)
English Qualifications:
What qualifications will make you successful? Position Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial controls, automation or power distribution Proficiency in electrical CAD tools, AutoCAD preferred. Experience with UL/CE compliance, NEC, IEC, and other electrical standards. Strong understanding of power distribution, grounding, control circuits and sensors. Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical standards. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities. Experience with electrical panel design is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mathematical, electrical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Proficient use of AutoCAD or other electrical software to create and modify electrical schematics. Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form to internal and external customers and practice discretion when communicating appropriate information to various audiences. Experience with variable‑frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and power‑electronic components. Effectively perform assignments with minimal supervision. Knowledge of specifications, codes, and standards used in commercial HVAC and datacenter industries such as UL, ETL, NEC, IEC, NFPA, etc. Electro-mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with components, piping systems, pumps, motors, controls, or other industrial equipment. Experience with liquid- and air-cooling systems for commercial buildings and datacenter systems is a plus. May require minimal lifting of thirty pounds or less. Regular travel required. Who will you report to? You will report to the Sustaining Engineering Manager. This role is an in person position. You are required to report to the Lancaster, NY office 5 days a week and up to 25% travel per year. USD 68,000 - USD 102,000
per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
