Job Title:
Systems Test Engineer (Quality Assurance)
Contract :
6 months (likely to extend), W-2
Pay :
$56/hr, weekly pay, with Benefits Job Description The Systems Test Engineer (Quality Assurance Engineer) validates and ensures the quality of robotics and automation hardware deployed at scale. You will perform hands-on testing of electromechanical systems in both controlled lab environments and live operational facilities, develop and execute detailed test plans, and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). In this role, you document defects, support root cause analysis, and collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to confirm systems meet defined performance, reliability, and quality standards. This position is well suited for someone with strong technical curiosity, meticulous attention to detail, and a willingness to travel extensively to support field deployments and continuous improvement of complex robotic systems. Responsibilities Develop, refine, and execute comprehensive test plans and test procedures for electromechanical and robotic systems. Perform hands-on hardware testing, including electrical and mechanical testing, to validate system functionality and performance. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify systems against requirements before and after deployment. Identify, document, and track defects and anomalies discovered during testing and live operations. Support root cause failure analysis by providing detailed test data, observations, and technical input to engineers. Perform requirement verification and state transition testing to confirm systems behave as specified under various operating conditions. Use data analysis and KPI-driven validation to assess system performance, reliability, and quality. Create clear, structured technical documentation, including test reports, test procedures, and defect summaries. Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to coordinate testing activities and resolve issues. Work with robotic systems and PLC-based systems to validate integration, control logic, and overall system behavior. Utilize scripts and diagnostic tools to support automated or semi-automated testing workflows where applicable. Communicate test results, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders, including engineers and technical leads. Travel to multiple sites (up to approximately 75%) to support field deployments, on-site testing, and validation activities. Take ownership of assigned tasks, managing priorities and timelines in alignment with deployment and validation schedules. Adapt to diverse testing environments and changing project needs while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety. Essential Skills 2-3 years of professional quality assurance or hardware testing experience, preferably with electromechanical or robotic systems. Hands-on experience with hardware testing, including electrical testing and mechanical testing. Proficiency in developing and executing test plans and detailed test procedures. Experience conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Ability to identify defects, document issues clearly, and support root cause failure analysis. Strong skills in requirement verification and state transition testing. Experience with KPI-driven validation and data analysis to evaluate system performance. Familiarity with electromechanical hardware testing and robotic systems. Exposure to PLC systems and scripted testing or automation support. Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated ownership mindset with the ability to take responsibility for tasks and outcomes. Adaptability and comfort working in both controlled lab environments and live operational settings. Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 75% across multiple sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience. Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, and other diagnostic tools. Experience creating structured technical documentation such as test reports, test plans, and test procedures. Ability to interpret and work from technical requirements, specifications, and design documentation. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside engineers and cross-functional teams. Interest in robotics, automation, and systems engineering with a desire for long-term career growth in these areas. Work Environment This role is primarily on-site and field-based, supporting operational facilities where advanced robotics and automation systems are deployed. It is a high-travel position, with approximately 75% travel to multiple sites and exposure to diverse testing environments, including both controlled test areas and active operational settings. You will work closely with a collaborative team of engineers and technical leads while also handling independent task execution. The environment involves extensive hands-on work with hardware, robotic systems, and PLC-based systems, using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, and other diagnostic equipment. Work follows a structured testing cadence aligned with deployment and validation schedules, combining focused individual testing efforts with cross-functional coordination across engineering and operations teams. The role offers significant exposure to real-world robotics applications, visible impact on system quality, and strong learning opportunities in a dynamic, technology-driven setting.
