April 15, 2026 Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a motivated student to join our engineering team to assist in the management of complex system models and the planning of Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) activities. Our students are an integral part of the development team and support project reviews, deliveries, and hardware integration. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within the aerospace and defense industry.Key Responsibilities:
Supports full-time systems engineers in the creation and maintenance of Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) plans and procedures Assists in the development and management of system model and AI&T Flows using Cameo Systems Modeler Assists with requirement traceability and verification mapping within the system model Helps document system interfaces and physical/functional architectures Assists in the preparation of technical data packages for design reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR)Required Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance Must be a student currently enrolled at Utah State University pursuing a degree in systems, aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering Must have at least three (3) semesters remaining in school Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer Must be available to work non-standard hours (nights or weekends) when required for hardware testing Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to document technical concepts clearly Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow defined engineering procedures Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environmentPreferred Qualifications:
Prior exposure to SysML (Systems Modeling Language) or MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler Experience or strong interest in Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) through university projects (e.g., Mini-Baja, FSAE, CubeSat, or Robotics clubs) Familiarity with the Systems Engineering "V-model" and the product development lifecycle Experience with version control systems and technical documentation managementStudent Scholar Program:
