Come be a part of our mission. The Western Region EHS organization is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
  • Level 4 to manage and oversee the EH&S program in San Diego to protect personnel, equipment and facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact for the site Assists with implementation of programs to comply with EHS regulations Partners with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS programs Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation Interpret and communicate EHS requirements, identify compliance issues, act as a subject matter expert, and coordinate key initiatives with facility personnel, legal, and other stakeholders. Assists with the implementation of EHS management systems at the site level Serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures Applies for new permits and renewals Conduct compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training Collaborates with Regional EHS organization and business unit resources to follow best practices Participates in Site's planning for changes in physical facilities to meet current and new environmental and safety requirements Manage the hazardous materials program including maintaining an accurate inventory, ensuring proper storage, and scheduling/ documenting hazardous waste shipments; organize and equip spill control process Leads Site's accident/injury investigation and reporting program
Basic Qualifications:
8 Years of experience in EHS with a Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. Previous experience using collaboration skills with all levels of an organization. Proven ability to perform job duties with general direction and supervision and to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles Excellent time management and organizational skills Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government DoD security clearance Proficient computer-based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs EHS experience in manufacturing environment Ability to perform job duties without direct supervision. Experience conducting personal protective equipment assessments and job hazard analysis. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to Travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Experience managing various EHS compliance programs (with an emphasis on occupational safety programs, such as chemical safety/hygiene, ergonomics, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, incident investigations, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations and company policies & procedures Experience with oversight of third-party consultants/contractors
Primary Level Salary Range:
$129,300.00
  • $193,900.
00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
