Local •The Opportunity:
CACI is excited to announce an opportunity for a Part-Time, Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team on-site at our Bethesda location. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a robust background in fire protection engineering, particularly someone with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects. The hours expected for this role will vary from 10-20 hours per week but may increase depending on customer needs and skillset of the selected candidate.Responsibilities:
Design and Analysis:
- Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with
OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems.
Compliance and Codes:
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with
OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA
standards, and other relevant fire protection codes.- Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases.
Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with
OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications.
Consultation:
- Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with
OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
- Degree in Fire Protection Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
- Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including
OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desired:
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.
