About You:
We are looking for a Fire Protection Field Engineer who will support the installation, testing, and commissioning of industrial fire protection systems in active construction and operating facilities. The role assists with field coordination, quality control, documentation, and compliance with applicable fire codes and project specifications. The position is primarily field-based and supports sprinkler, deluge, foam, underground fire water, fire pumps, and fire alarm interface systems in heavy industrial and mining environments.
Compensation/Benefits:
Competitive salary ranging from $80,000 - $90,000. Key Responsibilities:
Field Support & Installation Oversight Support daily field activities for fire protection system installation Assist with layout and verification of pipe routing, hanger locations, valves, and devices Coordinate with fitters, welders, and subcontractors to resolve field issues Observe installation to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings and specifications Fire Protection Systems & Technical Support Assist with installation and inspection of: Wet, dry, preaction, and deluge sprinkler systems Foam and special hazard suppression systems Underground fire mains and yard piping Fire pump houses and water supply components Fire alarm interfaces related to suppression systems Review shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and product data Assist with RFIs and field revisions Quality Control & Testing Perform field quality checks on pipe installation, supports, and equipment placement Assist with hydrostatic testing, flushing, foam proportioning tests, and acceptance testing Track deficiencies and assist with corrective actions Support punch list development and closeout documentation Codes, Standards & Compliance Support compliance with applicable codes and standards, including:
NFPA 13, 15, 16, 20, 24, 72 FM
Global and insurance standards Owner and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements Assist with inspections and coordination with AHJs and third-party inspectors Safety & Industrial Environment Follow site safety rules and company safety programs Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and toolbox talks Support work in operating industrial and mining facilities Promote safe work practices in elevated, confined, and hot-work environments Documentation & Project Controls Maintain daily field reports, test records, and inspection logs Track material deliveries and installed quantities Assist with as-built drawings and system turnover packages Support project scheduling and look-ahead planning
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field Equivalent field experience may be considered 0-2 years of construction experience or fire protection field experience Internship of co-op experience in fire protection or industrial construction preferred Basic understanding of fire protection systems and components Ability to read and interpret construction and fire protection drawings Familiarity with NFPA standards preferred Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam or Procore a plus LVC Companies, Inc. is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer
