Position Description:
The Process Engineer plays a key role in advancing Applied Medical's manufacturing capabilities by developing, optimizing, and supporting innovative systems used in medical device production. This onsite engineering role focuses on process optimization, troubleshooting, and cross‑functional collaboration to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and support scalable production. Working closely with production teams and quality partners, the process development engineer contributes to cutting‑edge medical device manufacturing through hands‑on engineering, data‑driven improvement, and technical documentation. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot manufacturing systems and equipment by diagnosing root causes, resolving technical issues, and minimizing production downtime. Develop and improve manufacturing processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction, and enhanced product quality. Document engineering activities and results by maintaining accurate records of designs, modifications, testing outcomes, and performance analyses. Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, production, and quality to ensure cohesive system performance. Support process validation and optimization efforts through data collection, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Apply structured problem‑solving methodologies to address technical challenges in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Manage projects related to process improvement, including timelines, budgets, and resources and coordinate effectively with various departments to ensure project success. Success in This Role Looks Like Improving manufacturing efficiency and system reliability through effective troubleshooting and process optimization. Reducing downtime and production risk by proactively identifying and resolving equipment and process issues. Delivering high quality technical documentation that supports regulatory compliance and knowledge transfer. Collaborating effectively with cross‑functional partners to implement scalable and sustainable manufacturing improvements. Contributing to cost‑reduction initiatives that support Applied Medical's operational and business objectives.
Position Requirements:
This position requires the following skills and attributes: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) Experience with manufacturing equipment and processes Experience with computer-aided design (i.e. SolidWorks), spreadsheets, scheduling programs, and word processing Excellent technical writing Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Knowledge about Process Validation activities Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams Effective oral and written communication skills Technical aptitude and detail oriented
