Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support the engineering and production team. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with strong attention to detail, who is eager to learn specialized equipment and processes in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This position will work closely with a lead engineer, supporting production activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and learning to operate and program automated machinery. Key Responsibilities Learn and support the process , including setup, operation, and inspection Perform microscope inspections to evaluate wire quality and ensure precision standards are met Load parts, follow engineering drawings and work instructions , and verify correct materials and configurations Assist with machine setup and basic programming (selecting programs, adjusting settings, running production lots) Troubleshoot equipment issues and support resolution, especially during production runs Maintain accurate documentation using lot travelers and production records Work extensively in a cleanroom environment with full PPE Day-to-Day Breakdown ~75% hands-on equipment operation (loading parts, wire threading, inspections under microscope) Learning to measure, inspect, and validate small, delicate components Supporting engineers with process improvements and production flow Required Qualifications Experience with automated equipment or machine interfaces (manufacturing or lab environment) Strong manual dexterity - ability to handle very small components using tweezers and tools under a microscope Familiarity with production environments and workflow (machine operation, product flow, work instructions) Comfortable working with computers and navigating machine interfaces for basic programming/setup Ability to follow detailed instructions and problem-solve independently Preferred Qualifications Experience working under a microscope Exposure to GD&T or engineering drawings Experience using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) Previous work with wire bonding or semiconductor equipment (Datacon, K&S, Hess, etc.) Additional Details Full cleanroom PPE required (face covering, gowning, limited exposure) High level of precision required - handling very fine wires and sensitive components Open to candidates with a high school diploma or associate's degree ; engineering background is a plus Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
