Job Description:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of a global supplier base supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing operations. This role will lead supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities Lead supplier qualification, capability assessments, audits, and production readiness activities. Drive supplier performance improvements related to quality, delivery, and process capability. Investigate supplier nonconformances and lead root cause and corrective action activities using 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA, and similar methodologies. Monitor supplier KPIs including PPM, OTD, COPQ, and escapes. Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, controls, and quality systems for compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements. Support FAI, APQP, SPC, control plans, and process validation activities. Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management teams. Support customer and regulatory audits involving suppliers. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. 5+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience within aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of
AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, FAA
requirements, and supplier audit processes. Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and supplier development initiatives. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. CQE, CSQP, Six Sigma, or AS9100 Lead Auditor certifications are a plus. Willingness to travel up to 25-40% to supplier sites.
