Socomec NAM oversees all operations in North America. About This Role The Quality Engineer (Supplier) is responsible for both supplier quality and product quality, ensuring that all supplier components, materials, and processes comply with product standards, engineering requirements, and manufacturing specifications. This includes validating supplier deliverables across design, mechanical, electrical, and packaging requirements, while also ensuring supplier manufacturing processes align with company and industry standards. This role is part of the Advanced Part Quality Process team and supports achieving and maintaining high levels of quality across supplier operations and in-process manufacturing activities. Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities Create and/or support the development of PPAP requirements for commodity-specific suppliers Review, validate, and approve supplier PPAP submissions Monitor NPI deliverables for supplier sourcing, including approval processes Drive approval of supplier parts, materials, and subcontractor services Ensure supplier qualification processes are fully executed and maintained Identify and control supplier non-conformances and support investigations to ensure timely closure Establish supplier quality objectives and oversee supplier quality performance Lead supplier assessments and drive corrective and preventive actions based on performance Maintain supplier quality records and documentation Promote early supplier involvement in product development to improve quality, delivery, cost, and risk management Support Supply Chain in evaluating new or existing suppliers from a quality perspective Review supplier documentation (certifications, data packages, etc.) to ensure compliance Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities across cross-functional teams Product Quality Conduct test protocols to ensure products meet specified requirements and customer expectations Support incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections, including factory acceptance testing (FAT) where applicable Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to ensure product conformance Assist engineering in developing test protocols for new products or product enhancements Identify and control product non-conformances and support corrective actions Review supplier and customer documentation to ensure compliance with quality requirements Support initiatives to reduce manufacturing errors and improve overall product quality Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues through structured problem-solving methods Ensure quality issues are evaluated from a customer and stakeholder perspective Improvement Provide feedback to engineering and R D on product and process improvement opportunities Evaluate test performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness Use lessons learned from field issues to strengthen testing and validation processes Perform quality system audits Safety Promote employee engagement in safety programs and risk prevention activities Follow safety procedures to ensure an accident-free workplace Identify unsafe conditions and work with HSE teams to improve safety systems Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills Strong leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers and internal teams Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Results-oriented with a hands-on approach Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of integrity and accountability Ability to anticipate business needs and act proactively Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Metallurgical, or related field) May be substituted with 8+ years of relevant industry experience Minimum 8 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in power or power distribution products Experience creating and maintaining quality documentation (procedures, inspection plans, etc.) Strong understanding of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Proficiency in root cause analysis tools (8D, CAPA, NCR, problem-solving methodologies) Experience with
ISO 9001 / ISO 14001
quality systems Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (GD&T preferred) Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or related certifications preferred Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license required Ability to travel internationally (valid passport required) Must be available for business travel Compensation range: $85,000 - $95,000 USD #LI-YZW Upon request, we will provide reasonable accommodation for disabilities to support participation of candidates in all aspects of the recruitment process.
