Job Description

Innovative Staff Solutions has a new direct hire opportunity for a Industrial Engineer with one of our clients in the Nashville, IL area! Here's how you will make an impact: Provides industrial engineering consultation in support of operational and productivity improvements. What you will do on a daily basis: Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date capacity planning model. Create and maintain "Plan for Every Part" (Operating Plan Calculation) documents to support new business quotes, new program launches, capacity updates, and service operations. Develop and administer a plant layout process based on Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and Systematic Handling Analysis (SHA) principles to optimize material flow, handling, and storage requirements; maintain all related drawings and documentation. Conduct plant layout reviews with production area owners. Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of a plant‑wide scheduling and inventory management system (WMS). Apply time and motion study techniques to improve operational efficiency. Evaluate forklift utilization and driver staffing; recommend equipment assignments and manning optimizations to production management. Recommend, develop, and support the implementation of cost‑reduction initiatives. Researching and developing improvement opportunities Managing continuous improvement (CI) projects Applying lean manufacturing tools Evaluating "what‑if" scenarios related to operational processes and product design Benchmarking best practices at other organizations Revising industrial engineering support functions and tools to enhance continuous improvement efforts Reviewing and providing feedback on improvement and innovation idea submissions Perform process modeling and analysis using value‑stream mapping tools and simulation software, as assigned. Participate in Six Sigma projects and related improvement initiatives. Comply with
ISO 14001, IATF 16949
(formerly
TS 16949
), and all applicable Health and Safety policies and procedures. Demonstrate flexibility to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and occasional travel, as required. Participate in all required training programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Solid Industrial Engineering skills, including material flow, process flow, and time & motion study. Ability to achieve results using Industrial Engineering methods. Understanding of production scheduling and inventory control Strong problem-solving skills. Strong math skills and understanding of statistics. Ability to develop and maintain working models of computer-based evaluation tools. Proficient in AutoCAD. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in support of management's priorities and goals. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Be able to readily resolve conflicts and maintain progress on tasks and projects. Be able to adjust to changing needs and conditions. Basic computer skills
  • Microsoft Office software Must learn Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and Systematic Handling Analysis (SHA) Must be a self-starter, open minded and a team player.
Basic understanding of 8D, APQP and SPC. Basic understanding of standardized work and kaizen activity. B.S. degree in Engineering (required) B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering (preferred) In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered. Must be able to meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements and the job function evaluation. See job function evaluation in the Occupational Nurse's office for more details. Office environment. May spend some time in manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions. May travel using public modes of transportation.
